How to Burn Calories More Effectively

Looking for an effective way to burn more calories in order to shed some fat? Look no further as we will be introducing to you 3 exercises that will help you to burn more calories! Not only will these 3 exercises help you to burn more calories, it can also help to train and improve your cardiovascular and muscular endurance as well !







3 Types of Exercises to Burn More Calories


1. Farmers walk on incline treadmill


This exercise is done by holding a pair of dumbbells and walking on an incline treadmill.


Things to take note*

  • Choose a pair of dumbbells that is manageable such that you are able to maintain an upright posture when walking

  • Retract the shoulders and keep your chest up while walking with the dumbbells to maintain a good posture

  • Brace your core to support and prevent rounding of the back


Easier Alternative


Farmers walk on flat treadmill


Similar to the inclined version, but with the treadmill set to a flat gradient instead


2. Dumbbell walking lunges on inclined treadmill


This exercise is performed by holding a pair of dumbbells and performing lunges while on an inclined treadmill


Things to take note*

  • Lunge forward till your knee bends about 90 degree till it almost touches the treadmill

  • Throughout the exercise, ensure that your posture is upright and not slouched forward

  • Similarly, keep your shoulders retracted, chest up and core braced

  • Start slow and set the treadmill to a manageable speed

  • In the event that you do lose your balance, drop the dumbbells and press the emergency stop button


Easier Alternative


Walking lunges on flat treadmill


Similar to the inclined version, but set the treadmill gradient to 0 and perform lunges as the treadmill moves



3. Leg presses (High Volume + Drop Sets)


This exercise involves doing a leg press set at 50% of your 1 repetition maximum, performing it for 30-50 repetitions. Soon afterwards, without resting, reduce the load to 30% of your 1 repetition maximum and do for another 15-30 repetitions.


Things to take note*

  • Place your feet firmly in your intended stance of the leg press platform

  • Lower the leg press machine until your knees are bended until around 90 degrees before pushing it back to its original position

  • Push the weight through the heels

  • Do not round your back and have your back rested on the bench support

  • Do not use your hands to push your legs

  • Do not lock out fully or jerk the weight

  • When unracking ensure that the safety catch is properly secured
